Hello MacBook

A thousand yays and cheers! I’m writing this from my brand spanking new MacBook (the white 2 GHz model) and I’m soooo enjoying it. Right now I’m still getting used to using it (eg. writing “@”) and configuring like hell… But I just love the Just Works™ feeling it’s got. Awesome!

Anyways, I’ll probably be looking into installing some Debian or Ubuntu on it at some point, but for now I just want to try out OS X.

Bye bye Thinkpad

After some years of reasonably good service, my Thinkpad finally died. Fortunately it was kind enough to wait until I had turned in my paper (the only paper this semester). I guess it was inevitable… The battery had already died — and so had the cd-rom/dvd drive — and the hard drive was beginning to sound strange and act really weird, but in the end, it seems that it was the motherboard that actually got toasted. Repairing it will be way too expensive, so I’m opting for buying a MacBook, if possible. (I need my bank — or someone else — to lend me teh monies.)

I guess I was lucky that it died in the beginning of a semester, though I have to hand in my BA at the end of the semester, but at least it’s not ruining any exams for me just now. Maybe Murphy’s Law isn’t all that powerful against my Linux-powered Thinkpad…

I’m actually attending a semiotics symposium at the moment, so I better run now. Just wanted to let y’all know that I’m not exactly online for the time being, so if you need to get in touch with me before I get hold of one of those new computational devices, text me.
