Mmm, subversion…

I finally took the time to put this site into subversion, so that I can easily manage it from my laptop (without having to ssh into the server and edit the files directly there - as I’ve done so far).
If you need a good (better) replacement for cvs, give subversion a shot. It has all the features cvs lacked. There’s a great introduction at svnbook.red-bean.com.

Enjoy!

Action packed!

Finally! I got a laptop!
Actually I got it thursday last week, but I’ve been to excited about it to write in my blog.
It’s an IBM Thinkpad R32 (yeah, I know, the cheap series) with a Pentium 4 Mobile 1.8 GhZ processor, 256 MB RAM, DVD-/CD-ROM, 14.1″ TFT monitor.
One disadvantage is that it comes with WinXP, and that really sucks, but on the other hand it just reminds me how much I love Linux… Which turns out to be a lot.

Now my old computer (Celeron 633 MhZ, 128 MB RAM) is in my closet, working as web-/file-server. Don’t know how long it’ll stay alive though, it’s an old mother…

And on top of it all…
By placing my old computer in the closet and closing the door, I think the noise level in my room is now below +70 dB… ;-p

Nice CMS

I just found (by recommendation from WebClaus) a very nice CMS named Drupal. It’s easy to setup/configure, it’s light and it’s easy to administer. And even better yet - it’s flexible.

Personally I like it better than *nuke and the likes.
Go and try it out. It only requires Apache, PHP and MySQL (which you can learn to setup at WebCafe.dk [da].

dyndnsupdate

I just wrote a nice little program to keep ones dyndns hosts updated (both after reboots and in general). It’s called dyndnsupdate and is a Bash-script (so it only runs on *nix or Cygwin). More info is in the README in the package.
Get it here: dyndnsupdate-0.7.tar.gz.

Enjoy!

Windows 2000 Open Source?

Well, finally the source of Win2k leaked… Or at least some of it. Microsoft® claims that the entire source code to Win2k takes about 40 GB of space and the leaked portion is only 660 MB.
40 GB? “Yeah, right Bill!”

Finally the public will have a look at what’s going on in Windows. Justice! At last! ;-)

Wouldn’t it be cool if the OSS community released a security-patch for Win2k before Microsoft®?
