Paper airplanes

The resent top one fun activity at home has been making and throughing paper airplanes all over the place.

Two designs that has been enjoyed lately is the jet-jauwer and den-lille. Folding directions are below in the mentioned order. Preferably paint flames on the sides of them before – or after – folding them.

The first is from a Spanish wiki site and last is from http://www.aviationexplorer.com/paper_airplanes.html – a site with quite a few more designs.

Just overheard this. And I must admit, I adore such blankness. P1 and P2 is two people talking in front of a computer.

P1: It this also the internet?

P2: Yes.

P1: I always go down there (pointing to some other place of the screen). That’s also an internet.

Seams there is multiple internets all over the place. That’s very fortunate, eh.

I recently stumbled upon a Lego Cad like program called Bricksmith, see [0]. It’s good fun, but like all Cad programs ( i presume) not easy to use at first. It’s mac only, alas. But some of you (i hope more then Madsen reads this, fx. Morten also) might like it.

I made a stupid “drawing” which can be seen on Kristian Bust’s new website [1]. Worth to check out, the website that is, if your into non-conform art with something to say.

iconv — change text encoding of a file

I just saw this on the DK-TUG mail list. I seam to be the tool I’ve been wanting for years but been to slack to find. “Slack” since i couldn’t imagine that such tool should not exist. It’s ‘iconv‘ [0] and works like this:

% iconv -f UTF-8 -t ISO-8859-1 old-utf8-file.txt > new-iso88591-file.txt

What’s up with my milk?

Doesn’t the icon that in this case, the milk case, says “open this way” remind you of something? Something that you thought was out of your life, and then it all of a sudden invades your Saturday morning coffee. It’s profane. That dear innocent milk, i hope it is – I’m giving the best of credits till it’s guilt has been proven, has been infected by the beast. It has come to my home, it has chosen a soft and holy moment for it’s Trojan invasion. God damn it.

We use Palle’s mom’s recipe as it is so easy to recall. So easy that it’s sometimes hard to remember and begs to be mod’ed. Erm.

It’s: 1L yogurt, 1L buttermilk. That makes 2L of cow stuff. Then the double of chicken stuff, ie. 4 egg yolks. Preferable without salmonella. Then 6 spoonfuls of sugar. And finally at least 1 spoonful of vanilla. You could go with less, like 1 tea-spoonful, vanilla if you’d approach the real mom recipe. The easiness is in the relation 2:4:6, if you notice. Now stir. Then eat with so called kammerjunker (can be seen in the above picture) — preferable on a sunny day.

Scale — “digits, yes please”

Just now and again one need a one-liner [0]. Just now and again it’s executed in bash [1]. Just now and again it involves some calculation. And just now and again it easy to do those things with bc [2] as it can read from standard input [3]. But at exactly those “now and again” times I normally find that bc truncates and returns only the integer part. Which at a subset of those “now and again” times are just not good enough. F.x.: one might be fuzzy about the resolution when counting how many keystrokes there are to go in order to have produced the scheduled amount of text for the day.

But fortunately I today got wiser; I met the scale variable in bc. It properly still truncates but now I can set a resolution that at least satisfy my fuzziness issue, which means I can now M-! my way to the following one-liner to get what i want.

C=`wc -c main.tex | cut -c 4-8`; P=`echo "scale=4; ${C}/2400" | bc`; echo ${C}c, ${P}p

Bliss. Back to work.

Rugbrød update, sunflower seed

This is an update to the Rugbrød post [1]. By adding 3/2 dL of sunflower seeds when mixing in the rye flour etc on the second day makes nice sunflower seed rugbrød (solskikke rugbrød, da). Below is a picture of how it looks.

Silly signs

Well. This is a really pointless post about a few phone-cam shots.

Phones come with wee cams that are usually quite bad. Or at least mine is. But it allows for snapshot photography at anytime you’ve got your phone at hand. You knew that already, right. Here are “two”. Both silly.

The first is a car parking reservation for Søren Kierkegaard although they spelled his name wrong. So it’s there in case he’d need it. It might not look appealing but it’s located very close to where he resides at Assistentens.

The other is directions for what to do in case of war. Just hide in the bin at the men’s room at Nørrehus bodega — it should be bomb-proof.
