YABAP (Yet Another “Back Again” Post)
So… We moved in and the server was moved to my dad’s house, where it turned out that TDC (my dad’s internet provider) had blocked port 25 — ie. no SMTP for me — and refused to open it again. After a couple of days, a solution was found, but I’m not sure how well it works, but I’ll just hang in here a while to get a better idea about it. The rest of the services should run as always, although those whose stuff I host, will probably want to change the IP address in the DNS records. (You can get the new one by doing ‘host lillesvin.net’.)
Apart from that, we’re starting to get settled in our new and absolutely awesome flat and now that we’ve got a 5 mbit/1 mbit connection, it’s all so much better. I’ll probably post some pictures later (of the flat, not the internet connection), when I can get hold of a camera. We ordered a D-Link access point yesterday, which will probably be delivered monday, so this summer I’ll be blogging from the roof terrace. Oh yeah…

Solutions I can think of..
1 - let someone else host the mail service
2 - let TDC runs MX backup - then they’ll relay the mail to your server since it’s only from outside their network that smtp is blocked AFAIK. Ask Hamselv - he runs it that way.

3 - forget about mail and rely on IM
4 - forget about mail and IM and rely on blog backtracks

Haha!
It seems that I get my spa^H^H^Hmail through the MX backup, so I think I’ll just let that be unless it turns out I should be getting more sp^H^Hmail…
I’m guessing the best configuration would be:
10 lillesvin.net
20 backup-mx.post.tele.dk
30 g4.wasd.dk
so your server will try mine, fail and then fork it over to TDC, right?

yessir! although it just as well try TDC first, but that’s not important :)

Well, if you can make it drop it directly at the MX 20, then you’re very welcome. :) I just figured that it’d automatically try the MX 10. I reckon it’s not something I can do from my end.

It’s the way it works. I would want to mess with that.
I started to look at Ruby, btw :)

Cool! How’s that working out for ya? Do you like it so far?

I like it a lot, but I have writte just about no code yet. I have so little time and PHP is always lurking in the dark when I need to write something quick :-(
I’m going to read Why’s Poigant guide to Ruby - RSN(tm)!
Also — how’s “back again” working out for you? ;-)
We miss you on IRC.

The “back again” works ok, but I don’t have much time for IRCing. I barely have time to build/package Synfig for OS X (Intel), which is what I’m spending most of my time on right now. I actually did a Ruby script, to handle some of the stuff involved in making the app-bundle (more specifically: relinking the binaries). Hopefully I’ll have a bundle ready soon (I just need some people to test it, to see if I’ve included all the needed libs and stuff.)
Anyways, I’m sure you’ll like Ruby even more, when you get a little more into it. I’m using it more than PHP nowadays, even though I still do web-stuff in PHP, since I don’t really care to take the time to configure my Apache to run Ruby as well. Btw, let me know if you try out some of the Cocoa bindings for Ruby - I’m really eager to see how well they work.

Yeah, I hope to get some time to play more with Ruby. I have no Mac though, so I can’t help you on either :-)
The new site looks awesome. Although I like the old one :-)
